Did I not update this? How could I not have updated this..I CAN'T BELIEVE it!

I really totally thought I did! Yes the progress is going sooo painfully slowly because I just have no time! But I really did think I updated it.

Using OpenCanvas on flowers, it works so much better for painterly blending strokes than PS.  I like to use a blend of these two programs because they each have their strengths.

Blue Boy

Last month, I was browsing through my old laptop's hard drive and I found this one psd file.  It's an unfinished painting from November of last year and I apparently totally forgot about it.  I can't recall why I left it unfinished, but most likely it's because I had no time for it due to work commitments and then eventually it slipped from my mind.  I don't think when I started this picture I had any grand goal, meaning nor story for it.  I just wanted to play with certain colour combinations, which in this case are bright aqua and blue as ambience colours and how they affect skin tones.

I used OpenCanvas to paint hair.  I think OC works MUCH better than Photoshop in painting hair.  I switched back and forth from OC to PS - OC for painting and PS for colour adjustment.

p.s. I just realized how I contradicted my last post....hahahahaha!

iPad art again

It seems to be the only kind of personal art I have time for these days, because I can paint while I'm out and about and stuff.

I painted this using ArtRage for iPad, mostly the crayon tool.  I'm starting to find my way through that app.  In my last Artrage posts I used oil paint tool.  Usign different tools when painting digitally is a new thing for me, because I would normally just use the round brush tool.

more iPad art!

This time made in Procreate.  I think I'm really getting the hang of it and am more able to get the details in.

Photoshop painting demo - luminous backlighting effect

A few months ago, somebody asked me how I create the "lights and shine" in my paintings.  I took it to mean the golden lighting and how I used it to illuminate the subjects in my paintings. So, I made a video demo to walk you through the way I create the intense, luminous backlighting effect.  I'm a newbie at making videos so after a lot of struggling and frustration with Windows Movie Maker and after that, Adobe Premiere Pro, I finally did it!

Hope you like it.
Vid after the jump.

even more Artrage iPad art!

I think I'm DEFINITELY getting much better with the oil painting tool in that app. Most of which is attributed to getting a better idea of what I'm doing.

I tried to limit myself to using only palette knife tool here.

my uncle and his family

My present for them

I used Photoshop and OpenCanvas...trying to get the hang of OpenCanvas, and eventually any painting program other than Photoshop, hopefully.

Caricature drawing.

Hi guys.  I didn't update for a while because I've been busy.  A new set of pages came in so I've been doing that.

I was given a crash course of caricature drawing by Osman.  This is my caricature version of him.  He said that this is the best caricature that anyone's drawn of him.  I'm sure he's just being nice, but it's nice to hear nonetheless!

Today is the fir st day I taught one on one tuition which is exciting.
